From Waiting to Justice.
From Silence to Action.

Elderly Man Relaxing

What Is It?

Man Stressing at Desk

Hundreds of thousands of people sit in uncertainty as they wait to see if they will be approved for disability. In the mean time, mortgages are not being paid, cabinets are bare and meds need to be purchased. After years of honest hard work, the safety net they have helped to build has let many fall through.  With millions of applications pouring in a year and a lack of administrative resources and system prone to delay and deny, many applicants are being pushed to the point of desperation.

Help Us to answer the cry for help by supporting the Transparency for Disability Applications Act {TADA} as we prepare to submit a draft to state legislators.  TADA is a bill proposal aimed at bringing transparency,  accountability and to expedite application process for disability with a set of guidelines and provisions to be administered by the SSA and State Legislators.  It is a tough task, through an uncut path but worth the fight, if it means helping those who are suffering in silence.

The Problem

The Social Security Administration cites a process of 6-8 months to process an application for disability.  However there are hundreds of thousands of cases that hang in pending status even after 2 years.  Thats a long time to wait with little or no income. During this waiting period,  the applicant has very little clarity about the time frame,  process and persons involved in the decision to grant or deny benefits.  Applicants are simply left in the dark.  We propose a national database that can be accessed by an applicant to view the progress of their application in the queue of the database to give the applicant clarity and power to act proactively.  A web page with visible timelines,  notes from case workers and case workers disclosed by employee ID  number would expedite communication between the case worker and the applicant and the determination process as a whole.  On the flip side, there are only so many case workers trying to process a gazillion applications.  Enrollment periods would break up the flow of applications into periods, where they can be categorized by nature and priority making the determination process more direct.
